Digital World Expo - Day 1 Impressions

Sep 27, 2011 by Lisa Riolo

It’s always fascinating to participate in a first year marketing conference.  Will the names on the badges be the same ones you see every year, at every event?  Will the same expert panelists share the latest buzz words and acronyms as best practices we all must adopt to be successful?  And will the food be any good?

I had high hopes for Digital World Expo when I first heard Shawn Rorick describe his vision for this conference.  I’m pleased to report that Day 1 did not disappoint.  We’re meeting new people at varying levels of experience, but all taking an earnest interest in learning.  I’ve sat through several of the classes and presentations, all of which have been captivating and instructional. “Mobile Madness” in particular was highly educational as Alison Gensheimer presented a great framework for marketers to consider and approach mobile marketing.

At the exhibit hall, (booth 317–which is near the bar) we’re offering a chance to win an iPad2 if participants will answer our one-question survey.  We’re asking marketers about the biggest challenges they’re facing right now.  What kinds of answers do you think we’re getting?  Do you imagine the survey responses are similar to your own challenges?  Tell us what issues you’re facing as you start planning for next quarter and next year.

  1. The format of DWE was great for learning and prompting the exchange of digital marketing concepts and ideas. Those that participated mobile madness were not only interested in the topic but also asked great questions. It was great to be invited and to be a part of the first year of a new conference and format.
