Affiliate Summit West 2016 is nearly here, and Impact Radius is planning on making it the best one yet – and that means being prepared. Whether you’re new to the conference, or are an Affiliate Summit veteran, we can guarantee you don’t want to miss our Affiliate Summit West 2016 tips.
Affiliate Summit West 2016 will take place January 10-12 at Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV. The three day conference will include educational sessions, as well as networking with affiliates, affiliate managers, advertisers, OPMs/agencies, solution providers, and networks. Since this is one of the largest marketing conferences of the year, it’s important to come prepared to set a successful tone for 2016. Read on for tips to make your Affiliate Summit West 2016 conference a guaranteed hit.
Before the conference even starts, lay the foundation for a successful conference experience.
1. Print out your meeting schedule.
With thousands of attendees in the same location, the free wifi that comes with your summit badge is not something you want to rely on. With so many users, the wifi can be very slow. Print out your meeting schedule ahead of of time, or have it opened as a tab on your phone’s browser.
2. Leave room for swag in your suitcase.
With three days of meetings, expo hall visits, and trips to the strip, you’re sure to leave with a little more than you came with. To make sure everything fits trying packing a little less, so you can go home with a little more.
3. Business cards.
Commonly forgotten, a box of business cards may be the most important thing to bring along. Business cards can make or break your conference experience. With thousands of marketers in attendance, you’ll want to make sure you are remembered.
4. Airport transportation.
Taxies are pretty easy to grab from the Las Vegas airport, but if you’re travelling in a group, call your hotel and ask about getting a shuttle, private van, or limo sent to pick you up. This can make the experience a little more smooth, and a lot more fun (plus, the taxi lines at the hotel/casinos can be Disneyland-long).
Once you arrive at your hotel, be prepared to make the most of the show.
5. Getting around.
If you’re planning on a meeting off site, leave at least 20 minutes for travel time. Between the taxi lines, the actual ride, and potentially walking through another hotel lobby, you’ll want to make a great impression — and that means arriving on time.
6. The Standout Session of Affiliate Summit West 2016.
The standout session for ASW 2016 will definitely be ‘How to Leverage Incrementally in the Affiliate Channel’ with Courtney Pearson of Ovative Group, Steven Tazic of Rise Interactive, Inc., Todd Crawford of Impact Radius, and Christopher Weston of Cabela’s. Optimizing partnerships, and the channel as a whole, will become increasingly important in 2016. Determining what percentage of sales are incremental and what that means for your business will be especially important. Stay in the know, and make sure you catch this session.

Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Location: Champagne Ballroom 1
7. Be prepared to talk – a lot.
Keep a water bottle, cough drops and gum handy. Over the three days, you will be doing a lot of talking. Water dispensers will usually be in the meeting rooms and in the expo hall.
8. Connect with your contacts.
Make sure to get cell phone numbers for everyone you’re meeting with, especially if you’ve never met them face to face. As previously mentioned, relying on the wifi can be tricky. In the crowded lobby and packed restaurants it may be difficult to put a name to a face, especially if you’ve never met in person. Exchange cell phone numbers to help guarantee you’re able to find each other in the hectic public spaces.
9. The Expo Hall.
Visiting the expo hall can be overwhelming – and a whole lot of fun. Make the most out of the expo hall by visiting Monday, or at the latest Tuesday morning. If you plan on visiting any later, you may miss out. Some booths may close down early, and attendees may begin to leave. You don’t want to miss out on potential business partnerships because you left the expo floor on the last minute. While you’re there, make sure to stop by and connect with us at booth #7009.
10. Eat well.
Plan your meetings with partners, clients or new acquaintances at one of the many world class restaurants Las Vegas has to offer. In the mood for steak? We suggest Golden Steer Steakhouse. In the tradition of rat pack era Las Vegas, expect great steaks and caesar salad made tableside. If buffets are more your style, make sure to visit Bacchanal or Wicked Spoon. Keep in mind, both will have a significant wait time, so plan accordingly. For a twist on the traditional, we suggest visiting Holstein’s Shakes & Buns. Their fun menu includes items such as the “Cereal Bowl Shake” made with 3 Olives Loopy Vodka, Fruit Loops, and Cap’N Crunch.
Remember, Affiliate Summit is about work and play, so have fun!
