Mobile Apps: If You Can’t Measure, You Can’t Manage

By on March 10, 2015

mobile phoneIf you think smartphone activity is prevalent today, just wait. In the next five years, global smartphone traffic is projected to increase tenfold.1 The future of marketing is mobile, and top brands are putting big investments in their apps. They know it’s a powerful way to reach customers and personalize user experiences. Of course, that’s easier said than done and plenty of apps fail to become a habit of their users.

The apps that really seize this opportunity depend on precise tracking of mobile ad campaigns to determine return on ad spend (ROAS) and make data-driven decisions on how to allocate their investments. These analytics extend beyond just installs and track in-app user events to give a clear picture of which partners are sending users with the best lifetime value. Neglect this and you’ll be left in the dust.

Here at Impact Radius we offer flexible, lightweight SDKs to track your mobile ROAS. Just install one SDK for an operating system and you’re ready to distribute your ads. This eliminates the headache of implementing different SDKs for each mobile ad network, unlocking serious potential in scalability. You’ll get automated reports on user events: installs, updates, opens, completed levels, purchases or anything else that’s relevant to your KPIs — limited only by your creativity. All tracking methods will be on your dashboard, including app-to-web, app-to-app and web-to-app conversions.

We’re excited about some awesome new advances in the Impact Radius mobile tracking solution:

·   Windows SDK – We now have a Windows Phone SDK! It joins our iOS and Android SDKs to give you reach to the worldwide mobile audience. While iOS and Android have most of the mobile market share (combined 89.5%), you shouldn’t forget about Windows. Microsoft hopes to grow its market share (currently 2.7%) and some app developers work exclusively with the Windows Phone.2

·   Improved iOS SDK – We’ve made our iOS SDK even better. It’s now optimized for iOS 8 and we’ve improved our automatic event tracking capabilities. It also has a smaller footprint. Our lightweight SDKs keep apps running fast and users happy.

·   Improved Android SDK – We’ve added support for the Google Advertising ID so that you’re in compliance with Android’s recent policy changes. It’s important to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing requirements of mobile advertising, and with our SDKs you can be confident you always are. We’ve also improved automatic event tracking with our Android SDK.

·   New versions of our Titanium and Unity plugins – Titanium Studio and Unity 3D are terrific tools for mobile developers as they enable them to code an app once for multiple operating systems and devices. This is key for scalability and ensuring that your app looks right on all devices. We’ve released new versions of our Titanium and Unity plugins so you can easily integrate Impact Radius’ mobile app tracking.

Precise analytics allow you to see which partners are performing well so that you can better allocate your ad spend. Data on users also enables more personalized, relevant messages, such as product recommendations, promotions and tips based on a user’s location and past behavior. That’s when you really start getting your customer’s attention.

It’s exciting to see the mobile platform take shape as a major force for monetization. Are you harnessing the power of big data in your mobile strategy?
